NORTHPORT, NY, April 20, 2011 – Secure Decisions, a division of Applied Visions, Inc. (AVI) and developer of visual cyber defense and decision support tools, today announced that its MeerCAT®-FS product has been granted the Authority to Operate (ATO) on U.S Department of Defense information systems. MeerCAT®-FS obtained the ATO under the Department of Defense Information Assurance Accreditation and Certification Process (DIACAP). The DIACAP certification was received under the Defense Information Systems Agency’s (DISA) sponsorship as part of the Naval Research Laboratory’s (NRL) Flying Squirrel Wireless Assessment Tool Suite.
MeerCAT®-FS is the government off-the-shelf version of Secure Decisions’ wireless security visualization tool that is now available from NRL for authorized government users. The product was developed in collaboration with NRL to improve the analysis of data collected with NRL’s Flying Squirrel wireless discovery application. Military and intelligence analysts use MeerCAT®’s visual analytics to better identify suspicious wireless access points near or in government facilities, assess vulnerabilities, and locate wireless vectors.
The ATO that was granted by an independent accrediting authority indicates that MeerCAT®-FS has implemented and is in compliance with all required information assurance controls. “We worked diligently with NRL to ensure MeerCAT® maintains the level of security that DIACAP requires,” said Dr. Anita D’Amico, Director of Secure Decisions. “The acquisition of the ATO under DIACAP demonstrates our commitment to provide secure and compliant software for our clients. “
