Northport, NY—March 18, 2019—Secure Decisions, a division of Applied Visions, Inc. and a leader in cybersecurity research, will be participating in the 2019 S&T Cybersecurity and Innovation Showcase hosted by the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Science and Technology (S&T) Directorate, March 18-20, 2019 in Washington, D.C.
Secure Decisions has been conducting research and developing solutions to secure the software supply chain under the DHS S&T Directorate since 2011. The company developed Code Dx, an application vulnerability management system, and in 2015 spun it out under a new entity, Code Dx, Inc., to further mature and commercialize this and other technologies. Code Dx will be one of four success stories spotlighted at the S&T Cybersecurity Innovation Showcase.
Secure Decisions recently released a new application security testing technology, the Attack Surface Detector (ASD) that enhances software penetration testing under the Directorate’s multi-year Application Security Technologies and Metrics (ASTAM) program. Furthermore, Secure Decisions developed and released Code Pulse to the open-source community for continued development and dissemination.
“Most data breaches involve attackers gaining access by exploiting a software vulnerability or flaw,” explained Anita D’Amico, Ph.D., director of Secure Decisions. “Application security finds and fixes software vulnerabilities before an attacker can take advantage of them. However, AppSec testing can be labor-intensive and costly. The technologies developed by Secure Decisions, with funding from DHS S&T, automate many of these processes. This automation makes application security faster, less costly, and more scalable.”
“With continued government funding for cybersecurity research, we can develop new technologies that help us get ahead of the attackers who want to steal from or take down our cyber systems,” added D’Amico. “DHS S&T funding of cybersecurity R&D, including the transition of the research results into operations, has had a significant impact on the security of our nation’s software supply chain. Their foresight in funding seed research in software assurance over eight years ago has borne fruit in new application security technologies and even a new AppSec market called Application Vulnerability Correlation.”
About Secure Decisions:
Secure Decisions, a division of Applied Visions, develops innovative technologies in cyber security, including application security, security education, network defense, and infrastructure protection. Secure Decisions automates manually-intensive security processes and supports analysis and visualization of large and complex security data. Secure Decisions R&D led to development of a new application vulnerability correlation and management system, now commercially available through spin-out Code Dx, Inc.
