NORTHPORT, NY, July 08, 2013 – Secure Decisions, a division of Applied Visions, Inc., and Morgridge Institute for Research have entered into a partnership to advance software assurance initiatives of mutual interest towards the goal of providing an operational environment for assessing the security of  software applications.

Secure Decisions and Morgridge institute will be collaborating on software assurance (SwA) projects sponsored by the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Science & Technology Directorate (S&T). Beginning now through 2014, as part of an initial collaborative effort, Secure Decisions and Morgridge will integrate Secure Decisions’ Code Dx™ static analysis correlation and visualization tool into Morgridge’s Software Assurance Marketplace (SWAMP) environment. Secure Decisions expects to continue to enhance the functionality of Code Dx within the SWAMP by expanding its support for additional software languages and static analysis tool results, improving the correlation and visualization of Code Dx as the SWAMP matures, and providing additional reporting capabilities.  “We are very happy to be working with Morgridge Institute.” said Dr. Anita D’Amico, Director of Secure Decisions.  “With support from DHS S&T, this new collaborative effort lays the groundwork towards improving awareness of, and technologies to support, software assurance. It helps to advance the Department of Homeland Security’s campaign towards building more secure software applications.”

Code Dx was initially developed under a Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) project funded by DHS S&T. That SBIR, along with several other DHS software assurance research projects, including  Morgridge’s SWAMP, are part of a major DHS initiative to improve the security of software products developed for government, industry and academia.  Code Dx correlates the output of several open source and commercial source code analysis tools into a unified view of detected software weaknesses. Its visual analytics provides users with rapid triaging of the most important weaknesses, and visual reporting to improve communication of results. It was designed after assessing the specific needs of software developers, security analysts, and security auditors, who evaluate and test software applications for known safety and security risks.
